I interned as an animation designer on a 20 episode children's series for BBC Bitesize. The title of the series was Significant People and was commissioned to aid the teaching of history to KS1 pupils. My job was to design assets for animation such as backgrounds, characters, clothing and objects. I had to ensure to work was correctly composited and prepared for the animators to work with whilst making sure to maintain the required studio style. I was also responsible for researching and gathering references for a variety of time periods to ensure that all of my designs were historically accurate. Whilst working I was given an opportunity to art direct a couple of episodes, meaning I had the added responsibility of delegating design work to other interns and overseeing the completion and submission of design packs and storyboards for review from representatives at the BBC.
